The Introduce Yourself Topic  [5/12/2003 15:30:25]

Hi everyone.

One of the dilemmas we face as a growing community is that there are a lot of new faces and so on. We used to have a 'Where are you from' topic which was great, but it became unwieldy after a while.

This topic is for everyone to introduce themselves, and state in no more than a couple of sentences...

* where you are from;
* who you work for;
* what you do in your current role;
* what your company does.

Nothing more than a few sentences, and on this occasion it's okay to say what you specialise in. We're strongly against people who solely use our community to advertise without ever contributing in discussion, but by creating this topic we can keep the 'who is who and who does what' in the one place.

Please note that any off-topic stuff, or over-wordy chit-chat, will be edited or even deleted. I'd like to keep this topic as compact as possible, with the maximum amount of 'signal' to 'noise', if you get my drift.

I'll begin:

I'm John Clark, I'm the Architect of this site (and designed it all from scratch between November 2000 and now, as part of an ongoing challenge ;-), I keep things working and do a bit of moderation and other stuff when required. Our company, New Business Network (UK) Ltd., specialises in developing bespoke interactive communities.

Telecomms in Bristol  [9/12/2003 13:39:01]

Hmmm, Orange, Telewest & BT have operations in Bristol... ...I'm not sure if any of the new directory services are based there, but I don't think they'd need a predictive dialler... ...I'm going to guess Orange - Are you writing under an assumed name?

Telecomms in Bristol  [9/12/2003 14:04:13]

Hi Ben. No I am really me, either that or I need to go back to the shrink again :)

As you are aware diallers can be based anywhere, as can the people who manage them...

Really will not confirm who I work for as I do not think that it is important. If you check through my posts I do not advertise my companies products or services, they pay other people a lot more than me to do it!

Ian

I cannot confirm or deny who I work for, however I would be glad to buy you a pint Dave...

Broadsystem have a dialler and are based in Bristol, as are a number of others.

Diallers can be used in the most ingenious of ways, automated line testing is one use...

I'm a Resource Analyst of 5 plus years now specialising in the "stable" travel industry! Although really i am more than capacble of covering any industry that needs a Resource Planner.

I am currently on a 6 month contract due to end 29th March. Previous areas include Car Rental (First Analyst Role), Exam Boards (1 month)and currently a major Travel Company in the FTSE250.

I am currently located in Crawley, West Sussex and my role is mainly implementation of Q-Max WFM for the centre in time for the Jan rush.

Unfortunately I no longer have any direct reports to blame anything on!
