Sport Relief - UK Charity  [13/12/2007 12:53:14]

I thought that this excellent charity event was well worth bringing to the notice of CCVs UK based membership....reply to Sport Relief by no later than 17th January if you would like to take part.

Sport Relief is looking for UK call centres throughout the UK to take telephone donations during the night of TV on Friday 14th March 2008.

Sport Relief is now taking over an entire weekend and promises an action packed three days of entertainment, events and energy designed to challenge the entire nation from Friday 14th to Sunday 16th March 2008. The whole of the BBC will be behind Sport Relief - delivering brilliant entertainment across TV, radio and online.

On the night of Friday 14th March there will be a 7 hour TV extravaganza on BBC One where the generous British public will be donating their cash to help change lives for the better. We are calling on call centres nationwide to support Sport Relief and donate their services for this one amazing night.

They are looking for UK call centres that can offer us a minimum of 80 telephone lines staffed by volunteers for the duration of the TV show. Participating call centres will take donations using our web based application.

An incredible 64 call centres got on board for Sport Relief 2006 helping us raise a mighty £18.9 million for the campaign. For Sport Relief 2008 we want to do even better! All the money raised will be spent by Comic Relief to transform lives here in the UK and across the world’s poorest countries.

Colin Simon, Comic Relief’s Business Director said: “Without the help of call centres Comic Relief would not be able to help so many vulnerable people living incredibly tough lives both at home in the UK and the worlds poorest countries. We greatly appreciate the time, enthusiasm and dedication of people in call centres all around the UK in handling the phenomenal amount of calls we take during the show on the night.”

Drop them an email on callcentres@sportrelief.com.
