Andy,
Slightly biased response, as the company I work for is one of Aspect's major partners in Europe. However, Unified IP comes from the same stable as the Davox Unision and Mellita Conversations diallers, so has an excellent pedigree. UIP is an evolution of the EnsemblePro product which merged the functionality of the diallers with inbound voice, full multimedia contact management, call recording and IVR in a single solution.
As a standalone dialler it is excellent, with some great additional features such as automated outbound messaging (using the IVR capabilities)and multichannel outbound campaign management (email & SMS). Where it really scores is when you also incorporate the full blending of inbound and multichannel capabilities, along with the built in call recording, CTI, and fully integrated reporting and system management.
UIP is now primarily a software only product (although you do need a small amount of propietary hardware) and, being SIP based, is largely switch independent.
For the right environments, this is an excellent "single box" solution that incorporates some of the best of breed functionality available and capable of supporting around 1500 users. Well worth considering, whether you just want a dialler or the full box of tricks.
Hope this helps - if you need any further info, let me know.
