Indian Call Centre Question  [29/7/2005 03:24:21]

I'm enquiring if anyone can give me an estimate on how much bandwidth is required to setup an IPLC VoIP between Noida, India and Melbourne, Australia. We would like to setup a 120 seat call centre in India for outbound only.

If anyone could provide any details, costs and other requirements involved. Thank you.

VoIP Bandwidth  [30/7/2005 20:08:09]

Hi,

You'll need details from your VoIP supplier to get the protocol you'll be using.

If it's raw then you can work on around 50kps per concurrent phone line.

Try http://www.voip-calculator.com/calculator/lipb/ for an online bandwidth calculator.

Watch out for the round trip time between the sites. Slow times (over 20ms) can severely damage the quality of VoIP.

Bandwidth  [30/7/2005 22:01:14]

If you are using IPLC, then you would need to add Multiplexers like the Nortel Passport at Both ends of the IPLC. India & Foreign.
The bandwidth is about 8 Kbps/voice channel.

If you are looking to use VoIP, then about 30Kbps bandwidth will be utilised per voice channel.

Hope this helps

I assume you're talking about TDM? If so then that bandwidth is very impressive.

I assume Richard is hoping to use the IPLC as a data link and send VOIP over it. This would give you more control over latency (as John warns) because you could control the traffic that was travelling through your routers.

If you are looking to use VoIP, then about 30Kbps bandwidth will be utilised per voice channel.

I still uphold that it's going to be dependant on the protocol used. As John said, if it's uncompressed then it'll be quite large, but it could be as small as 8kbps.

Regards,
Darryl
